The 1st 7lb Milestone
Read more: The 1st 7lb MilestoneDaily Weigh-in done… On 21st August, 31 days after starting, I had shifted 1 stone of weight. I was very pleased with that. At the time I wrote… “It will get harder.” Now, just 16 days later, and a further 7 lbs gone. That’s pretty consistent. Less than 7 weeks in and 1st 7lbs (9.6kg) has been shed. Now that’s good news to start my day. You can have all the knowledge and support, but if you don’t put the effort in you won’t see results. This is all you. You have got this. You are doing it. You are…

Day 2 of Gym Life
Read more: Day 2 of Gym LifeTook myself off to the gym this afternoon with the aim to do 60 minutes on the treadmill at a steady walking pace. Need to lose more weight before I get up to a jogging pace. Bearing in mind I’ve only done 6 minutes on a treadmill ever – and that was last night, under the watchful gaze of Matty the PT. Well, armed with my earbuds and a Spotify playlist, I managed just over 60 minutes. That’ll do for starters. Also familiarised myself with the changing room and showers. Pleased with my afternoon trip to the gym. Not setting…

Week 7 – Update
Read more: Week 7 – UpdateDay 49 End of Week Seven – 8th September1.8kg (4 lbs) weight loss Total weight loss, to date10.4kg (23 lbs) And yet another week with a few milestones achieved. “Routine is King” as they say and I am certainly settling into a good routine. The small hurdle of a Jaguar Breakfast Club breaks that routine somewhat. A great steak (with nachos for starters – and great company) on the Friday night followed by the unavoidable breakfast club rolls (literally unavoidable as they were not serving anything else… I was hoping for scrambled eggs instead). But my protein-packed shakes are never…

#TeamBowelCancer
Read more: #TeamBowelCancerMy friends on JaguarForum.com have been following my weight loss journey for some time. Recent tongue-in-cheek comments have included: “At this rate Mark is going to be doing the London Marathon next year”“Too far away? Ok then Great North Run then lol” Well… It’s happening! It’s confirmed! “Congratulations, you’ve got a place with #TeamBowelCancer in the Great North Run. Give yourself a high five to celebrate. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Finished? Good. Because now there’s work to do!” Having already checked with Charlie on Bowel Cancer UK’s Events Team, I already knew that applications to sign up with them for…

Week 8 – Update
Read more: Week 8 – UpdateDay 56 End of Week Eight – 15th September+0.1kg (+0.2 lbs) weight gain Total weight loss, to date 10.3kg (23 lbs) So, a tiny weight gain this week of 0.1kg as I move into a new phase of this fitness reboot. Merely losing weight was just the start. Having now completed nine gym sessions in ten days, there is a clear trend of increased muscle mass – which has accelerated three fold over the past week compared with previous weeks. Whilst weight loss is still a goal, it is now combined with muscle gain. So I’ll be tracking body mass…

Week 9 – Update
Read more: Week 9 – UpdateDay 63 End of Week Nine – 22nd September1.7kg (4 lbs) weight loss Total weight loss, to date12kg (27 lbs) Another busy week in the gym. Lots of cardio and two hard sessions with Matty the PT. On Tuesday I called him a “baby-faced assassin”, but on Thursday I reflected and thought that was a tad insulting… so he’ll now be known as Satan Jr. Diet side of things is also still going well. I think last week my body was adjusting to the inclusion of 5 days a week in the gym. This week we’re back on track. Another…

Andy the Sports Physio
Read more: Andy the Sports PhysioMatty had identified that I had very tight hamstrings that were restricting mobility, basically reducing my flexibility. We did a few exercises to help stretch them but some deep tissue massage would be beneficial. With the help of Google I found Andy Tamaddon of Muscleworks Therapy, in Thornton-Cleveleys. Today was my first ever deep tissue massage and Andy would be concentrating on my legs (carves, quads and hamstrings). I got onto the massage table and very quickly worked out that this wasn’t going to be the time to relax 🤣 Andy kindly suggested that I was welcome to moan, groan,…

Plus the 2 stone milestone coming mid week. Another busy week in the gym. Lots of cardio but only one session with Matty the PT on Tuesday.
