Ok, so last week was a tricky one with ParkRun. It should have been my 18th successful ParkRun but my brain had other ideas and decided it didn’t want to complete the full 5k run and I gave in and pulled out after the first lap, just 2.6km. I did get my revenge though and went over to JD Gym and put in a 90 minute treadmill session later that morning.

On to this week… would things go ok? I had a better week in the gym with my cardio in preparation.

Light rain had been forecast for 9am but it stayed away and at 9.04am we were set on our way, once again. 262 ParkRunners heading off for two laps around Stanley Park, 5km in total.

I positioned myself a bit nearer the front this week but still found myself stuck behind a few people even from the start. I also got stuck behind one person in the woodland stretch but was able to zoom past them as we came out of the woods.

There was a photograper lurking alongside the Lake but I didn’t notice him on my first lap and then totally forgot about him on the second lap 🙂

Splits

Nope, not another discipline to perform during the run… pace splits,

Km 1 – 5:42
Km 2 – 5:49
Km 3 – 5:40
Km 4 – 5:48
Km 5 – 5:28

Average Pace 5:42 /km
Average Speed 10.5 km/h

So, my final confirmed time was…

28 mins 50 secs – a new Personal Best and my best age grading 53.76%

My Garmin GPS Heat Maps – Pace, Elevation and Power.

My Garmin watch continues to record a plethora of performance metrics for my running and all activities feeding into my training programme.

Heart rate is looking good and my Stamina levels are excellent and showing that I have a lot more to give once I reach the end of the 5K.

After the run, and the drive back home, it’s a case of waiting for the email to come through confirming my official run time.

Training Status, according to Garmin, is looking good with just eight weeks to go until the Great North Run.

My results table continues to improve.

A week off from ParkRun next week as I mark my 1st Anniversary of starting this “fitness reboot”. I’ll be back at ParkRun on 27th July.
